Roey Kert is the managing partner of the firm. Roey received his undergraduate degree, a B.Sc. (Hons) in business administration from Boston University in 1973 and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Roey received his LL.B. from York University (Osgoode Hall) in 1976 where he won the Harry Rose Criminal Law Prize.
Roey practices corporate, commercial and real estate law with special emphasis in easements and related land interests for utilities particularly in the telecommunications industry. He acts for Rogers, HydroOne, Shaw, Cogeco, Terego and has acted for various competitive local exchange carriers in the past. Roey provided specific input to Jim Flaherty, then Minister of Consumer and Commercial Affairs, regarding the creation of Section 22 of the Condominium Act (1998) that deals specifically with telecommunications facilities and agreements. He specializes in acquiring and dealing with land based interests through title acquisition, leasing, licensing, granting of easements and indefeasible rights of use.
Roey has been a speaker at several professional real estate conferences including the Law Society of Upper Canada and the International Shopping Centre Conference and some of his speeches and papers are published on our website. Roey is involved in various charitable endeavours including, in particular, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The Jewish National Fund of Canada and Baycrest. Roey was a former hockey great and a future golf great in his own mind and is married with three grown children.
