Background

Named a Leading Practitioner in the 2010-2011 Property Leasing Field by the Canadian publication Lexpert, a directory of leading law firms and practitioners in Canada, Dawn is an expert in Canadian office, retail, industrial, sale/leaseback and ground leasing and represents landlords, tenants and property managers. She has extensive risk management experience and is the author of “Insurance and Risk Management in Commercial Leasing”, a practical guide on insurance and related topics in the context of commercial leasing that was published by Canada Law Book in 2009. With broad in-house experience from two major Canadian landlords, she has a practical, results-oriented approach and understands business practicalities, corporate goals and expectations. She was previously lead in-house lawyer for Canada Trust/TD Bank in the disposition of its Canadian real estate portfolio that included a lead role in the Bank’s renegotiation as tenant of over 1.5 million square feet of office/retail space in TD Centre in conjunction with the sale of its ownership in those assets. She frequently speaks and writes for the International Council of Shopping Centers, Law Society of Upper Canada, Canadian Bar Association Continuing Education, RealLeasing and Osgoode Hall Professional Development Program.
